Lymph nodes cancer Stage 4
Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymph nodes. Like all cancers, it is the uncontrolled growth of cells around the lymph nodes.
Lymphoma develops as a lump in the area of node, usually in the back of the neck, armpits and groin area. Not all Lymphoma grows in the area detected. After a lump developed careful monitoring is required. Every time that happens the bumps, can be caused by
1) viral infection, that can easily be cured with antibiotics and usually only last a week or two,
2) Tuberculosis, which was detected at an early stage can easily be cured, and that will require more specialized medical care and treatment.
3) cancer, that can only be confirmed by a biopsy. If there are some lumps that have developed over time, it is very important to get the lump checked by hematology.
The real signs of the other is cold sweat at night, loss of appetite, drastic weight loss and lethargy.
lymphoma is quite complex and has various types and subtypes of lymphoma but can generally be divided into two major categories, namely Hodgkins lymphoma and Non-Hodgkin's. Hodgkins lymphoma is far more treatable and the prognosis is very good compared to Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
Stadium 1 Lymphoma are on one group of lymph nodes.
Stage 2 Lymphoma are on two or more groups of lymph nodes, and are on one side of the diaphragm (the boundary between the abdominal cavity and chest cavity).
Stage 3 there are more than two groups of lymph nodes are located on either side of the diaphragm.
Stage 4 Lymphoma has occurred in other organs of the body such as in the lungs, abdomen or in the bone marrow.
If the cancer is advanced enough in the stage as in stage 3 and 4, then the healing process in full Chemotherapy is very necessary.
Once the biopsy has confirmed that the tumor is a cancer, a CT scan is usually performed for the stage of the cancer. On Lymphoma, bone marrow taps is usually done to check whether bone marrow brings cancer too. CT scans also performed regularly during Chemotherapy to determine the efficacy of the treatment of it. If the current treatment is not effective, the doctor will switch to a regimen of chemotherapy. At the end of the treatment, a CT scan and PET scan done to end to confirm the presence of cancer cells. Chemotherapy treatment can last between six to eight months and one month more to recover from the effects of chemotherapy.
