Acquainted with Hodgkin's lymphoma, an aggressive Cancer that is Deadly

Until now, the cancer is still the most deadly diseases in the world. In Indonesia alone, the rate of cancer prevalence reached 1.4 per thousand inhabitants, which means the equivalent of 347,792 people.

Of various types of cancer, such as cervical or breast cancer, lungs, there is a type of cancer that is aggressive and dangerous assessed, i.e. the cancer hodgkin's lymphoma, or cancer of the lymph nodes. This type of cancer is attacking the system of lymph nodes that are part of the immune system.

Surgeons Hematology-Medical Oncology, Professor H Arry Reksodiputro reveals there are two types of blood cancer that occurs in the system of lymph nodes, that is, hodgkin's lymphoma and non-hodgkin's lymphoma. Two types of cancer of the lymph nodes it has almost the same symptoms. It's just cancer, hodgkin's lymphoma have a substance known as CD30, whereas non-hodgkin's lymphoma CD20.

 "Because it is not common, many people do not know the risk factors and symptoms, " says Arry who is also Chairman of society of Hematology-Medical Oncology (Perhompedin) Indonesia when Takeda Oncology shared media conference in Jakarta, Wednesday (17/1).

 "In fact, 80 percent of the cases of Hodgkin's lymphoma can be cured through chemotherapy if detected early. To that end, it is important not to underestimate the bumps on the body, though small in size,  "added Arry.

Globally, more than 62 thousand people diagnosed with hodgkin's lymphoma, and 25 thousand people die every year. In Indonesia the number of new cases of hodgkin's lymphoma in 2012 reach 1,168 to the number of deaths amounted to 687. According to Globocan data, this figure is predicted to experience an increase in 2020 with new cases reached 1,313 with mortality rate amounted to 811.

This high mortality rate assessed because of the slowness of the new cancer detection be handled at an advanced stage.

 "Usually in Indonesia it has just come to a doctor at an advanced stage. They are more a lot through herbal remedies, alternative, and shaman in advance. But if from the outset, potential recovery will be larger,  "said Arry.



Cancer alert

According to an Arry, cancer of the lymph nodes or hodgkin's lymphoma can strike all ages. However, one of the three survivors were in the age range of 15 to 30 years. Amounting to 60 per cent of which occur in men.

There are some symptoms that can be detected as a cancer-hodgkin's lymphoma, among them; There is a bump at the lymph nodes generally in the armpit, neck and groin. Other symptoms, namely; fever, sweating a lot including at night, there is enlargement of the spleen, liver or both, as well as the weight decreases to 10 percent in a short time.

 "The most important thing weighing down all of a sudden, there are only three diseases that make weight plummeted i.e. diabetes, cancer or goiter, " says Arry.

If the cancer hodgkin's lymph nodes are still at an early stage, an individual may be treated with radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Meanwhile, if already in advanced can be cured by stem cell transplant, chemotherapy and targeted therapy or targeted cell. According to an Arry, as much as 80 percent of the cases of cancer detected early hodgkin's lymphoma can be cured with chemotherapy.

To avoid cancer, Arry suggested to live a healthy life by eating nutritious meals, regular exercise, adequate rest, multiply a balanced life, and stay away from stress.

Cancer cells are generally triggered by foods containing karsogenik like food that is burnt, berpengawet, and processed. In addition, cancer cells can develop as many associated with radiation and chemical substances, as well as easier to attack people with low body resistance and stress. (rah)
